Monkey In The Middle: Stop Defaulting To The Middle Ground
I spent years hating rules.
My parents divorced when I was nine. My dad ended up in a camping trailer.
The system felt rigged. Authority felt arbitrary.
I decided early that anyone telling me what to think could go to hell.
Most people never question where the middle actually is.
I learned this the hard way.
We think we’re being reasonable when we split the difference.
Someone says black. Someone says white. We nod sagely and say grey.
And we feel smart doing it.
But what if one person is just... wrong?
What if the “extreme” position isn’t extreme at all... it’s just framed that way?
